The Salem Red Sox, the Single-A-Advanced minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have hired play-by-play announcer Melanie Newman. Newman will join Suzie Cool, creating the first all-female broadcast booth in all of baseball.
This position was initially posted publicly here on the STAA job board in October. After STAA learned the person Salem hired left for another team, we shared the "re-opening" with STAA members.
Melanie Newman is not an STAA member but we know her and how hard she has worked and how she has sacrificed over the past many years to earn this opportunity.
