Michael West(March 26, 2015) Minor league baseball is a small industry. The person for whom you work today might be in a position to hire you again tomorrow. That is exactly what happened to STAA member Michael West. Now, West is a Broadcasting and Media Relations Assistant with the Arkansas Travelers.

The Travelers are the Anaheim Angels Class-AA affiliate. Ironically, the Travs lead broadcaster is one of West’s mentors.

“Crazily enough, I’ll be working with Robbie Aaron again this year — the same guy that allowed me to break into broadcasting in the first place with Daytona in 2013,” says West.

A native of Southern California and a graduate of Arizona State University, West spent last season with the AA Jacksonville Suns. During his two years in minor league ball, West has done everything from play-by-play and pre and post game interviews, to writing game notes and game recaps, and producing video content. He is fired up to continue handling similar duties with the Travelers.

“I’m really looking forward to the season getting started. The staff is awesome and it should be a great experience!”
