Brad Tregnago is getting the chance to broadcast for his alma mater. An STAA client, Tregnago is the new radio voice of University of Missouri women’s basketball.
“I grew up about 30 miles north of Columbia, and have rooted for the Tigers my entire life. I’m also an alum of Mizzou’s School of Journalism. The chance to travel the country, broadcasting for my alma mater, is truly a dream. I still can’t believe it’s going to happen,” Tregnago says.
The chance to interview for his dream job came to Tregnago courtesy of his STAA Talent Page.
“This opportunity would not have been possible without my STAA Talent Page. When the job opened up, Tom Boman at Learfield used it to advise the people at Zimmer (Zimmer Radio Group) of potential candidates,” Tregnago explains.
“I was contacted for an interview with ZRG in July, started work a few weeks later, and was approved by MU for the play-by-play part soon after that. But, again, I’m not sure the folks in Columbia would have even known I existed without STAA.”
“We are looking forward to having Brad join our basketball family,” head coach Robin Pingeton said. “He brings very solid experience, great passion and a strong work ethic. We think he will be a great addition to our program.”
In addition to being a Missouri graduate, Tregnago also worked as the public address announcer for Missouri’s softball program. Before graduating from the University of Missouri, Tregnago worked as an intern, helping with the production of Mizzou’s football and basketball broadcasts and also worked to produce the coaches’ talk shows.
Before joining the Zimmer Radio and Marketing Group, Tregnago served as assistant program director, sports director and webmaster for KRES Radio in Moberly, Mo. With KRES, Tregnago accumulated over 10 years of experience performing and coordinating play-by-play broadcasts for college and high school athletics including football, basketball, baseball, soccer, softball, wrestling and track & field. Not only did he produce in-game content, but Tregnago had his hands in the production of weekly sports talk shows and news reports as well.
Tregnago’s efforts as a play-by-play announcer have not gone unrecognized as he is a recent recipient of the Missouri Broadcasters Association Award. Tregnago received the award in June of 2012, just before his move to the Zimmer Radio and Marketing Group
With the move to Columbia, Tregnago has become the News Director for Zimmer’s Columbia radio stations. Tregnago can be heard anchoring the morning newscasts on four stations, and assisting the morning show on Eagle 93.9.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity given to me by Mizzou, Mizzou Sports Properties and Zimmer Radio and Marketing Group,” Tregnago said. As an MU grad, this really is a dream come true.”
Tregnago was selected to work with the Women’s Basketball program through an interview and audition process which was overseen by Zimmer Radio and Marketing Group and Mizzou Sports Properties, in conjunction with the Mizzou Department of Athletics. Mizzou Sports Properties (MSP), a property of Learfield Sports, is the multi-media rights partner for Mizzou Athletics.
