(September 4, 2012) After more than a decade working at his first radio home, STAA client Brad Tregnago is taking the next step in his career. Tregnago has joined the Zimmer Broadcast Group in Columbia, MO.
Tregnago’s new gig as News Director for Zimmer’s Columbia stations has him anchoring the morning newscasts on four stations and assisting the morning show on the group’s FM talk station.
The chance to interview for his dream job came to Tregnago courtesy of his STAA Talent Page.
“This opportunity would not have been possible without my STAA Talent Page. When the job opened up, Tom Boman at Learfield used it to advise the people at Zimmer of potential candidates,” Tregnago explains.
“I was contacted for an interview with ZRG in July and started work a few weeks later. I’m not sure the folks in Columbia would have even known I existed without STAA.”
Tregnago’s career began in his hometown of Moberly at KRES. He joined the station in 2001, before he had even graduated college, gaining experience in everything from news and sports to DJ and webmaster duties.
“I obviously wouldn’t have gotten the job without experience. I am very grateful to the people at KWIX-KRES-KIRK-KTCM for giving me my first shot. People like the current Program Director, Brad Boyer, are invaluable to young broadcasters trying to get in to [radio]. I was really lucky to have a group of stations like that in my hometown, and I’m still lucky to work for another great group of stations right now.”
Tregnago’s successor in Columbia is another STAA client. The announcement is pending later this month.
