Talbott joining River City Rascals

Greg Talbott(March 1, 2013) “What are you going to do after college?” is the most frequently asked question put to graduating seniors heading in to their final semester of classes. Instead of dodging the question or giving a vague reply, Greg Talbott can give a definitive answer. Talbott is joining the River City Rascals of the Frontier League as their Director of Broadcasting/Media.

Talbott is already familiar with the Frontier League, having spent last summer as a broadcasting and media assistant with the Joliet Slammers.

“I feel very blessed,” says Talbott. “Landing a No. 1 job in pro ball the summer of graduation is rare, and getting to broadcast all 96 games and run media relations is exciting. Also, the chance to stay in the Frontier League after working for Joliet in 2012 is a nice perk.”

“There are lots of great young experienced broadcasters in the league, too, like (STAA client) Adam Young, (STAA client) Aaron Morse, (STAA client) Mike Radomski, Mike Ventola , etc. that showed me the ropes last year. I’m looking forward to seeing the product on the field, as well; the Rascals won the division title three of the last four years.”

Talbott began pursuing his sportscasting dreams in high school at Lake Oswego High’s student-run broadcasting program. Talbott continued building a foundation at Gonzaga University, spending his first summer break with Bellingham Bells Baseball, followed by the Battle Creek Bombers during the summer of 2011, and the Slammers last year.

With all the hustle Talbott has applied to advancing his career, it is no surprise that he has been ranked among the Top 10 collegiate sportscasters in the country each of the last two years in STAA’s All-America program.

“Thanks for all the help [from STAA] along the way,” Talbott says. “The career consultation advice definitely paid off!”
