Jared Shafran(August 9, 2012) STAA client Jared Shafran has just put his summer job search on ice. Shafran is the new Broadcaster and Media Relations Director for the Tri-City Storm hockey club. Headquartered in Kearney, NE, the Storm are members of the United States Hockey League.

“I saw the job opportunity on STAA and sent my application to the team as soon as I could. My goal for the summer was to find a hockey broadcasting job and this looked like a great opportunity,” Shafran says.

“I really enjoyed my experience broadcasting hockey at Northeastern and wanted to continue and improve my skills with a new team on a professional level.”

The Northeastern grad is joining the Storm after spending the summer in the California desert calling baseball for the Palm Springs Power.

Shafran used an STAA tip to stand out from the stack of applicants. “I was able to set myself apart from others by calling the team to personally follow up my application, a strategy that [STAA CEO] Jon has always recommended to his clients.”

Appreciating the simplicity of his Talent Page and the one-on-one attention STAA offers, Shafran says, “Sending my STAA Talent Page made it very easy for the team to listen to my demo and it is definitely much easier to send a link online to someone than a CD in the mail.

“STAA’s services have helped me tremendously in finding a job since I became a member. I would not have found out about this opportunity as quickly, and my talent page definitely makes me stand out in the crowd. Jon’s personal services have kept me on track in my job search and he is always there to give advice whenever I have needed it.”
