(July 17, 2014) Jay Sanderson, the women’s basketball and baseball play-by-play broadcaster at New Mexico State the past two years, has been hired as voice of the Montana State football and men’s basketball teams.
An STAA client since 2010, Sanderson also brings experience calling NMSU football, baseball, softball and volleyball contests on both radio and television to the broadcast booth at Bobcat Stadium and Worthington Arena. He has also worked in broadcasting in his hometown of Wichita, Goodland, Kans., and Ottumwa, Iowa, and on NMSU’s weekly television coaches show.
“Jay brings a wealth of TV and radio experience to Bozeman,” said MSU Director of Athletics Peter Fields. “He will be a great representative of Bobcat Athletics and I think our fans will enjoy listening to him call games on the Bobcat Radio Network.”
Sanderson graduated from Wichita State University. He is an 11-time winner of the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Award for Excellence in Radio and Television Play-by-Play and Reporting. “The opportunity to become the voice of the Bobcats is one I’ve sought for my entire career,” Sanderson said. “To work with football and men’s basketball programs as well-established and well-respected is what I set out to do, and my family and I are very excited to move to Bozeman and become part of the community.”
“We’re excited to welcome Jay to the Bobcats family and know he will be an outstanding addition to our broadcast team,” said Cameron Oliver, general member for Bobcat Sports Properties, which oversees management and operations for the Bobcat Sports Network.
