The Frisco RoughRiders are excited to announce that STAA client Nathan Barnett will join the organization’s broadcast team for the 2013 season. Barnett will work alongside “Voice of the RoughRiders” Alex Vispoli in delivering the play-by-play for home games and will be instrumental in the team’s pre- and post-game coverage for every contest. He will also assist with the team’s media relations and social media efforts in addition to writing for team publications.
An STAA client since November 2010, Barnett has spent the past two baseball seasons broadcasting the play-by-play for a pair of college summer league teams. He served as the Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (Northwoods League) in 2012 and worked in a similar role for the Palm Springs Power (Southern California Collegiate Baseball Association) during the 2011 season. Away from the diamond, Barnett has served as a broadcaster and account executive for the Ontario (Calif.) Reign (ECHL) hockey club in each of the past two seasons.
A Dallas native, Barnett attended St. Mark’s School of Texas before graduating from Pomona College in southern California. While at Pomona, he helped found the Claremont Colleges’ sports broadcasting program and called the play-by-play for various baseball, basketball, football, tennis and lacrosse games.
Geoff Arnold, who served as a RoughRiders’ broadcaster and media relations assistant in 2012, has taken over as the Assistant Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Wilmington (N.C.) Blue Rocks (Royals, Advanced Single-A) for the 2013 season.
