Riggert heading home to 'Huskers

Dave Riggert(September 3, 2013) It’s not often a sportscaster gets to cover his alma mater, but Dave Riggert is getting the opportunity. A 2000 graduate of the University of Nebraska, Riggert has been hired as the play-by-play voice for ‘Huskers baseball and host of a state-wide sports talk show produced by the Huskers’ Radio Network.

An STAA client, Riggert will also hep with Cornhusker football and basketball broadcasts.

Riggert moves to Lincoln from ESPN 1550 in St. Joseph, MO where he was spent the past four years at Program Director/Sports Director. During that time, he sever as the voice of Missouri Western State University football. men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball.

Riggert told stjoechannel.com that leaving St. Joseph will be tough.

“When our family moved here we didn’t know anybody,” Riggert said. “We didn’t know a single soul. People reached out. Getting to know people at Missouri Western, falling in love with the Griffons getting to do their football games, and basketball and baseball — it’s been a blast. That’s one thing that I really had to wrestle with to leave that behind.”

Prior to moving to St. Joseph, Riggert spent nine years at KSAL in Salina, KS. He broadcast Kansas Wesleyan University football and men’s basketball, and filled-in on Kansas State University men’s and women’s basketball broadcasts.
