Boston Red Sox Play-by-Play -- FILLED BY STAA MEMBER

#1 Post by Jon Chelesnik » Wed Jan 03, 2024 10:20 am

WEEI is seeking a Major League Baseball play-by-play and analyst announcer (English language) to broadcast during the 2024 Red Sox season. If you have experience and expertise in describing baseball action on the radio - to go along with an engaging personality - you could be a perfect match to call games alongside Hall-of-Famer Joe Castiglione in the Sox Booth this year!

Duties include:

* Prepare and research for game broadcasts
* Some games/innings will be in a play-by-play role, describing on-field action; other games/innings would be spent as an analyst, assisting the lead play-by-play voice with game reaction
* Deliver live game broadcasts that are both entertaining and informative
* Participate in pre-game and post-games shows
* Conduct interviews with players, coaches and team management
* Interact/engage with listeners on social media
* Participate in content creation across all platforms
* Occasional appearance on WEEI-FM talk shows possible

Please indicate in your cover letter you learned of this opportunity through Sportscasters Talent Agency of America.

According to Chad Finn (which is according to WEEI Program Director Mike Thomas) this is just to have a PXP on the bench, not to replace anyone.

Just for clarity, I believe Mike Thomas is Audacy Boston's SVP/Market Manager and Ken Laird in WEEI's Brand Manager (Program Director).

Yeah I think you're right. A lot of different titles and positions in radio nowadays. Hard to keep track!

Congratulations to STAA member Tyler Murray. Tyler will join Red Sox radio for 21 games in the coming season! He is one of the voices of the Red Sox Triple-A team in Worcester.
