The Kalamazoo Growlers and Battle Creek Bombers are offering an opportunity for current college level students looking to gain real world radio broadcasting experience to position themselves for a career in the sports and broadcasting industries upon graduation.

Both teams play in the summer collegiate Northwoods League.

Start Date: On or near the start of summer (May 13th)
End Date: On or near the end of summer (August 15th)

Academic Qualifications:

Declared major or minor in Broadcasting
(Other majors will be considered including, but not limited to: Journalism, Sport Management, or Business)

Description of Responsibilities:

Every Kalamazoo Growlers and Battle Creek Bombers games will be broadcasted live (audio and video) over the Internet on NorthwoodsLeague.tv, growlersbaseball.com and battlecreekbombers.com through an upgraded hi-definition and extensive 4-camera video production setup. The team will have 36 home games and 36 away games during the regular season, beginning late May thru mid-August.

Each radio broadcaster will be responsible for pre-season player signing announcements and any pre-game assignments including game/player research, statistics, and interviews. The broadcast team will call all the action of each home game, describing in detail the action of a highly competitive, summer collegiate baseball championship season. Potential post-game duties might include live interviews, and a wrap-up of both nightly team and Northwoods League results.

Each broadcaster will also be required to travel on all 36 away games with the team.


Local housing (apartment), travel to all 36 away games (team bus), Pre-game meal (home games), post game meal (away games)
Credit: College credit towards a major, minor or general elective required.
