St. Paul Saints No. 2 -- FILLED BY STAA MEMBER

The St. Paul Saints, members of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, are searching for a full-time broadcast and media relations assistant for the 2019 baseball season.

This position provides an opportunity to work in the 15th largest media market at CHS Field, the 2016 Best New Ballpark by Ballpark Digest. This position is beneficial for those people looking to get a start in professional baseball or gain more experience. The candidates should have on-air, play-by-play and board op experience. The Saints broadcast all 100 games on radio and their 50 home games on TV. The Saints are also hosting the 2019 American Association All-Star Game.

The candidate must be available for from May 1 - September 20.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

* Color commentary, with the opportunity to broadcast the middle three innings, for 25 Saints home games (PXP innings are rewarded based on job performance and on-air talent)
* Studio board operations for the other 25 Saints home games along with 25 road games (studio located in St, Louis Park, approximately 20 miles from ballpark)
* Responsible for pre- and post-game hosting on 50 studio board op nights
* Conduct interviews for pre-game show
* Compiling game notes, statistics and trends for broadcasts
* Assisting Saints staff, press box staff, and local media as needed
* Responsible for production and writing of Saints homestand news and programs. This includes writing articles, gathering ads and communicating with print companies
* Responsible for updating the Saints website with stories, player bios and transactions
* Game day ballpark set-up
* Assisting in social media with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.
* Assisting video coordinator with player interviews, community events and putting together video packages for the website and video board
* Assisting other staff members with daily operations

Hours for the full-time intern (subject to change):

* Home Games: 9:00 a.m. until everything is completed following the game (whether you’re at the ballpark or in studio)
* Weekday Away Games (when not running the board): 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
* Weekday Away Games (when running the board): 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (in the office), then must be at the studio no later than an hour before game time
* Weekend Away Games: Helping with outside events (if necessary) or at the studio no later than one hour prior to games on days you run the board
Additional duties:
* Assist all other full-time staff and interns with game day duties, prior to and following games
* Pulling tarp
* Ticket orders
* Opportunity to sell group tickets
* Other duties as assigned

The person who receives the full-time Media Relations/Broadcasting Assistant will work primarily with Director of Broadcasting/Media Relations Sean Aronson. In conjunction they will also work with the part-time Media Relations/Broadcasting Assistant. That person will cover the other 25 home games in studio, 25 home games at the ballpark and 25 road games in studio that the full time Media Relations/Broadcasting Assistant doesn’t cover.

This will provide valuable experience both on-air and in-studio. The position is designed to provide interested and qualified candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fun and hard working professional baseball environment. The hours and hard work are expected to make for an easy transition into working in professional sports or any industry.

Compensation will be discussed during the interview process. Housing is not provided.

Congratulations to Mike Drew, the new No. 2 for the Saints!

Mike earned his undergrad from Westfield State U and his Masters from Syracuse in 2017.
