Sanford Mainers Broadcasting/Media -- POSITION FILLED

#1 Post by Jon Chelesnik » Mon Nov 15, 2021 1:20 pm

The Sanford Mainers (Sanford, Maine) of the New England Collegiate Baseball League is searching for a Director of Broadcasting & Media for the 2022 summer season. This position is classified as an internship.

The Director of Media Relations will be issued a $750 stipend for the season as well as meal money for all away games. Host family style housing can be provided.

The Director of Broadcasting and Media is responsible for giving play-by-play and color commentary for all home and away games through the entire season which includes the months of June and July. If playoffs are applicable, this person can expect to remain with the organization to a maximum date of August 15th. Each team in the league provides its own broadcaster. During home games it is required that play-by-play be given through the first three innings and the last three innings, while providing color commentary through the middle three while the visiting broadcaster takes over the play-by-play duties. While on the road the roles are switched with play-by-play only in the middle three innings, while color commentary is given on the bookended three innings.

Other Details & Requirements:

Other jobs include hosting a full 5-10 minute pre- and post-game show on air through the NECBL Broadcast Network. It is required that a full post-game recap be written after every game and sent to media outlets in and around the Sanford area, as well as posted to the Mainers official website and social media accounts. Other press releases requested by the team are also required. This intern can expect to write press releases prior to the beginning of the season, highlighting the signing of players, initiated and instructed by the team's General Manager. A full media guide and press packet detailing all aspects of the team must be created and distributed to surrounding media outlets prior to the start of the season. Any other tasks will come from the direction of the team's Internship Coordinator.

The job entails working closely with players and coaches as well as serving as a liaison to the media and the main office. Away games will also be broadcasted on the local radio station, therefore communication with station directors will be required. Equipment for the NECBL Broadcast Network and for the local radio station will be provided. Any desired equipment outside of what is provided, will be provided by the intern.
