The Rochester Honkers of the summer collegiate Northwoods League are in search of an undergraduate student or recent graduate to serve as a PAID Broadcasting & Media Relations intern for the 2022 season.

This internship is available to an individual wishing to pursue careers in sports broadcasting, journalism, videography and/or social media. Modeled after working in minor-league and professional sports, Honkers interns will acquire real-time working experience in a fast-paced and professional environment while having an unforgettable summer at the same time!

Internship dates: Mid-May through the second week of August, with the possibility of playoffs

Stipend: $1,200 with the opportunity to earn up to $1,500 for the duration of the internship. Housing will also be provided upon necessity.

Duties of the internship may include, but are not limited to:

* Play-by-play and color commentary as #1 broadcaster in conjunction with team’s Director of Media Relations for all Honkers home TV-style and road radio-style games
* Plan and execute on-camera pregame show for each home broadcast
* Assistance with daily media relations tasks, including game notes creation and distribution, game recaps, feature stories, game public address script, etc.
* Shooting and editing video footage for digital use, including interviews and other video segments
* Helping to maintain the Honkers digital branding and marketing strategies through creative graphic design, the team newsletter and other digital media content
* Upkeep of and Honkers social media channels
* Game day operations, including but not limited to ballpark setup, teardown and other extraneous duties

Desired requirements:

* In pursuit/possession of a degree in sports broadcasting, journalism, videography, or another related field
* Baseball play-by-play and media relations experience strongly preferred
* Adobe Creative Suite expertise (Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign, After Effects) strongly preferred
* Knowledge of broadcast/streaming equipment a plus
* Energetic "can-do" attitude with a willingness to learn and work as part of a team
* Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including knowledge of AP Style
* Self-starter who is able to work without constant supervision

All interns are expected to work outside of their “internship position” to do what it takes to assist the Honkers in ALL aspects of operations and will be called on to assist and take on many duties and responsibilities. Internship hours can be extremely non-typical of a “work day” including both nights and weekends.
