Rochester Honkers No. 2

The Rochester Honkers are in search of an undergraduate student or recent graduate to serve as a ​PAID Media Relations intern for the 2021 season.

This internship is available to an individual wishing to pursue careers in sports broadcasting, journalism, videography and/or social media. Modeled after working in minor-league and professional sports, Honkers interns will acquire real-time working experience in a fast-paced and professional environment while having an unforgettable summer at the same time!

Internship dates: ​Mid-May through the second week of August, with the possibility of playoffs

Stipend:​ $1,200 with the opportunity to earn up to $1,500 for the duration of the internship

Duties of the internship may include, but are not limited to:

* Play-by-play and color commentary as #2 broadcaster for all Honkers home games with potential to travel to road games (​if interested in broadcasting, please specify in cover letter​)
* Assistance with daily media relations tasks, including game notes creation and distribution, game recaps and feature stories
* Assistance with interviewing Honkers players and coaches for the pre-and post-game shows and other video and written segments throughout the 2020 season
* Shooting and editing video footage for digital use, including on social media accounts
* Helping to maintain the Honkers digital branding and marketing strategies through creative graphic design, the team newsletter and other digital media content
* Creation of commercials for live NWL and Mixlr broadcasts to fulfill sponsorship requirements
* Upkeep of rochesterhonkers.com and potential assistance with Honkers social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
* Game day operations, including but not limited to ballpark setup, teardown and other extraneous duties

Desired requirements:

* In pursuit/possession of a degree in sports broadcasting, journalism, videography, or another related field
* Baseball play-by-play (​required for broadcasting​) and media relations experience strongly preferred
* Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign and After Effects strongly preferred
* Energetic "can-do" attitude with a willingness to learn and work as part of a team
* Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including knowledge of AP Style
* Self-starter who is able to work without constant supervision
