KAWE/KAWB in Bemidji, MN is searching for a talented Sports Director/Weekday Sports Anchor who can shoot, write, edit and produce compelling stories on a daily basis.

This person will anchor our weekday sportscast, coordinate our sports coverage and supervise our sports reporter and interns.

Experience is preferred but we will consider talented recent graduates. We cover local sports extensively and we need someone committed to highlighting our local sports scene by delivering more than just the usual scores and highlights. Great storytelling and the ability to report on non-traditional sports are vital. Strong leadership and organizational skills are also essential.

KAWE/KAWB is a station recently nominated for an Upper Midwest Emmy for station excellence. We are technically in market #15 but are a small station serving the north-central part of the state. Based on our households served with the stations over the air signal we would be approximately market size #140. We moved into our new broadcast facility in 2015 and are located in beautiful north-central Minnesota. We have a long history of developing sports anchors with many of our past sports directors now in top 40 markets.

Total compensation package is $33,275 including benefits. One-year contract.

The current sports director is Chad Mootz (University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point). He's been there since 2019.
