Tennis shoes

#1 Post by ssteve » Mon Mar 18, 2019 10:09 am

It seems there’s been a recent trend (most noticeable ESPN NFL studio show) of on-air talent wearing tennis shoes with their suits. Does this look odd and somewhat inappropriate for tv or am I just old. Give me a pair of dress shoes if I’m going to be seen on tv head to toe. Wonder if anyone else has noticed this and thoughts...

I agree that it looks odd, but I'm admittedly an old school fuddy duddy.

Tennis shoes, and even shorts, are fine with a shirt and tie if you're sitting behind a desk.

I wouldn't personally wear tennis shoes with a suit or with slacks and a coat, but I understand that is what people younger than me are doing these days so I wouldn't encourage them to change it.

Not only is it guys on ESPN, but for anyone who covers games, I'd guess that half the reporters who wear suits or sports coats now wear tennis shoes, especially the TV guys.
