Tips for golf play-by-play

#1 Postby Jon Chelesnik » Tue Jan 31, 2017 4:21 pm

Helllllp, haha.

A friend of mine is going to be doing major college golf play-by-play via an online stream. He asked me for pointers but I have never done golf. Any suggestions you can make here would be MUCH appreciated.

Thank you. Fore!!!

I've never done it, but I can imagine at least a chance to tour the course (if not play it) in advance would be very helpful. Especially if the announcer doesn't know much about golf, getting around with the course pro would be a plus.

How much information is available and how many cameras there are will be key - if there's a lot, it'll be easier to fill time with new shots and info/scoring. If it's just following a couple groups, a more in-depth knowledge of the game & course would be important.

One thing to keep in mind is that if they're anywhere near the actual play, DON'T TALK DURING A SWING!

If they'd like to add anyone to the broadcast I'd be happy to travel & help :)
The better you want to be, the harder you have to work. I want to be great.

Hi Andy -- thanks for chipping in (pun intended) your advice. Very helpful stuff. And your offer to help on the broadcast was very generous, haha.

Thanks again, Andy!

Jon
