What will the White Sox do!

#1 Post by micmoles » Fri Sep 26, 2008 9:13 pm

...with there mucked up radio situation. Steve Stone is moving to TV, Darrin Jackson has been offered radio, but is undecided. Ed Farmer is NOT a lead pbpman. He's worse than Mike Shannon, but at least Shannon is somewhat entertaining. Rick Monday is also better (in terms of former players).

Regardless of whether DJ takes the position or not, I'm of the believe that the White Sox need to bring in a second play-by-play man for radio. Someone that is a BROADCASTER not a player, and is skilled in the art to offset Farmer.

Thoughts?

So that's where Rick Monday went to. The former Dodger PBP man isn't half bad.

Former Dodger play-by-play man? Do you know something we don't?

Ahhh.....sorry I don't live in LA anymore. Monday is still with the Dodgers. He does the "Behind the Scenes" feature. I misread what you wrote. Too many pucks to the head...ha ha.

for starters they should get rid of Hawk Harrilson. It will all work itself out after that.

I have never been a Hawk fan, but I do have to say the Sox TV broadcasts were much more tolerable and smoother sounding when Stone filled-in for DJ last year. DJ had no business being in the booth, even as an analyst. I think Stone will make the TV broadcasts with Hawk much better next year.

It appears the Sox are still not in a play-by-play mode, and that they will add a former player to saddle up next to Ed Farmer?

The Trib say...Commentator Darrin Jackson will meet with officials from the new MLB Network this week, and a decision on his status probably will be finalized by the end of next week. Jackson tentatively is scheduled to switch from television commentator to radio analyst for Sox games for the 2009 season. Jackson has worked the past nine seasons on Sox telecasts with Ken Harrelson. If Jackson stays with the Sox, he will be the third partner in as many years with radio play-by-play announcer Ed Farmer.
