(September 13, 2013) Eight months after interviewing, Chris Allison has landed the job he wanted. An STAA client, Allison is the new Afternoon Drive co-host at ESPN 730 in Charlotte, NC.
In addition to his show, Allison will cover the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Bobcats, and serve as a marketing representative.
The station is similar to the last two where Allison has worked — KSAL in Salina, KS and Sports Radio KGSO in Wichita, KS, where he has spent the past eight years.
“ESPN 730 is a locally owned station that believes in providing listeners with local content, along with a mix of regional and national stories that are current hot topics,” says Allison. “The station provides me the opportunity to work with a talented and friendly staff that works together to accomplish station goals. I’m also excited to work with local NFL and NBA franchises, as well as work in a college basketball hot bed!
“I first learned about the opening through STAA,” says Allison in reference to a job lead that shared exclusively with STAA clients. The station initially hired a local talent but the position re-opened last month. “This opening was posted in February, and through the last six months I developed a relationship with the station general manager,” says Allison. “Patience and persistence paid off, and I’m extremely confident it was worth the wait!
“Without STAA I simply would have never learned about this great opportunity. The service [STAA] provides for both talented and passionate personalities and station owners is unmatched and appreciated. The constant update of openings was very helpful to me as I entered this process. Thank you STAA!”
“Although the process took some time, it led to a dream job for me.”
(Note: another STAA client has already filled Allison’s former job at KGSO Wichita. Announcement pending.)
