(March 16, 2016) After spending 17 of the past 22 years at the same station, Jim Measel was ready for change. An STAA member since 2006, Measel is joining WTVB-AM in Coldwater, MI. His new title is News Director, but he will also be doing a ton of play-by-play.
Measel moves to Michigan from Angola, Indiana where he worked at WLKI-FM from 1994 to 1997, then from 2002 to present.
At WTVB, Measel replaces Jim Whelan who has retired after nearly 40 years at the station. “The good news at the new job is that I will be able to do more play-by-play of baseball, girls softball, football, boys basketball and girls basketball. Plus I won’t have to drive over a half hour to do games like I have been doing for the last 14 years,” says Measel.
Measel’s radio career kicked-off more than 30 years ago at WMMQ-FM in Lansing, MI. His entire career has been spent in Michigan and Indiana. In addition to high school sports, Measel’s play-by-play resume includes Hillsdale College football and fill-in work for Western Michigan University basketball and hockey. He is a three-time AP award winner for play-by-play.
