Manatees radio adds Towne

Andy Towne(March 12, 2013) Andy Towne doesn’t like being bored. In his new job, he won’t have to be. An STAA client, Towne has a variety of responsibilities in his new Broadcasting/Ticket Sales Assistant position with the Brevard County Manatees.

Brevard County is the Class-A advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. With the Manatees, Towne will be working alongside fellow STAA client Dave Walkovic, who joined the organization in October.

Towne spent last summer broadcasting for the Wilmington Sharks summer collegiate team. He’s going to broadcast many more games with the Manatees, but that’s not all he’s looking forward to.

“I’ll also be able to work in sales, which is an important skill to have, and that should help me in the future,” says Towne. “It doesn’t sound like it’s going to be real high-pressure for results, as long as the expected effort is met, which is nice.

There will also be opportunities for Towne to contribute content to the Manatees website.

Towne has been an STAA client since 2011. “I heard about the job through the job leads sent out to [STAA] Premier clients.

“Being able to have everything posted [on my STAA Talent Page] is a huge help. Sometimes the inboxes of people hiring can’t handle large audio files, so a link is nice and easy.”

Towne is eager for the variety of responsibilities that come with his new position. “Of course, going to an organization that was named the Florida State League’s organization of the year and whose GM [Kyle Smith] was named Executive of the Year makes me also look forward to a positive work environment.” Towne then adds with a grin, “The palm trees are a bonus.”
