(June 21, 2013) For the second straight time, a new job is taking Robert Lovell farther East. An STAA client, Lovell is moving to North Platte, NE for a job as Sports Director at ESPN 1410. He moves from AM 1440 KRDZ in Wray, CO, less than two and-a-half hours away.
Prior to that, Lovell was a sportscaster in St. George, UT.
At ESPN 1410, Lovell will host a daily talk show, broadcast sports updates and handle play-by-play for local high school and community college sports. He replaces fellow STAA client Dan Lucero, who left this spring for a sports talk radio job in Wichita, KS.
“It’s not only a step up in market size, but it also gives me an opportunity to be on an all sports station,” says Lovell. “I have always wanted to host a daily show, preferably on a talk format, and this gives me that opportunity as well. I have also heard that Eagle Radio is a great company to work for and I am looking forward to being an employee owner in the company.”
An STAA client since 2011, Lovell learned of the North Platte opportunity in an email from STAA. “When the job listings come in my email I automatically look to see what opportunities are out there. I also utilize the success tools. I love the STAA Play-by-Play Pyramid and have tried to model my call after it. I am also looking forward to being able to use the sports talk pyramid now that I will be hosting a show.”
A 2011 graduate of Dixie College in St. George, UT, Lovell believes being passionate about your career is an important key to success. “The biggest thing that I have seen for me has been to make sure you are doing what you love. Look for opportunities and when they come be sure to take them.”
“Thanks [to STAA] for your help,” says Lovell.
