jake-levy-staa(June 30, 2015) Jake Levy went straight from the classroom to the broadcast booth. An STAA member, Levy has joined the North Adams SteepleCats of the Northeast Collegiate Baseball League as their play-by-play voice and media relations assistant.

“I finished up summer classes for Wingate University on June 25th and started [with North Adams] on June 27th, so the timing is pretty perfect,” Levy grins.

Levy is pursuing his Masters at Wingate, located in Wingate, NC. He earned his undergrad in 2012 from the University of South Carolina.

The North Adams job opened unexpectedly, less than two weeks prior to the start of the season. They turned to STAA for assistance and now Levy is on his way to New England. One thing that attracted the team to Levy was his personal website.

“Josh Meczywor, the person in charge of hiring, said he chose me in part because my website was so professional looking,” says Levy.

In Levy, the SteepleCats get someone with considerable experience in three different leagues. He spent 2013 as a broadcasting and media relations assistant with the Class-A Lynchburg Hillcats of the Carolina League. He has also broadcast for the Camden RiverSharks of the Atlantic League and the Columbia Blowfish of the Coastal Plain League.
