I Believe This About Sportscasting Though Others Think It’s Crazy

I’m not a good artist. If you can relate, you might think I’m crazy to believe you can learn to be a good artist.

The key is simply to look closely at what you’re drawing. Break it into grids and draw one little section at a time. Put all those little sections together into the big picture and you’ll have a decent drawing.

Speaking of crazy, I believe something about sportscasting that some think is crazy.

I believe that sportscasting is a learned skill.

You don’t have to be born with any kind of inherent ability to become a sportscaster. It’s not like flying where you have to be born with wings.

There’s a book titled Mindset by Carol Dweck. It’s about a fixed mindset versus a growth mindset. She argues that we can improve at anything we do.

If you want to be a sportscaster, you can improve your speaking. You can improve your writing. You can improve your delivery. You can improve your on-camera performance.

Here’s the key to mindset: whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.
