(August 16, 2013) Brett Hiltbrand’s sportscasting career is continuing on an upward trajectory. Three years ago he was a news producer in Columbus, OH. Next, he made it on air as a producer/reporter in Charleston, WV. Now, he is exclusively an on-air sports broadcaster. An STAA client, Hiltbrand has joined WVVA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Bluefield, WV as a sports anchor/multi-media journalist.
A 2009 graduate of Otterbein University, Hiltbrand is a self-proclaimed “proud Ohioan.” At Otterbein, Hiltbrand was a play-by-play broadcaster on the campus TV station. He also worked as a production technician at NBC 4 in Columbus, where he was later hired as a news producer upon graduation.
Hiltbrand’s first post-college on-air opportunity came when he was hired as a producer/reporter at WSAZ-TV News Channel 3 in Charleston, WV. Now he moves less than two hours south to Bluefield and WVVA.
Hiltbrand describes himself on his resume as an “original, clever and fun one-man-band sports journalist with a passion for local sports and telling stories on TV and online.” With his new job in Bluefield, Hiltbrand now has the opportunity to do exactly what he loves.
