The USMMA Sports Network, which began broadcasting games this fall, will offer video and audio coverage for all men’s and women’s home basketball games in the 2012-13 season. Jacob Wilkins will be the voice of Merchant Marine basketball, providing play-by-play commentary throughout the season. Wilkins is a very experienced broadcaster, calling games for MSG Varsity along with anchoring updates with Sirius XM Radio.
Wilkins also just finished the season anchoring highlights with MLB.com and will begin anchoring updates with 1010 WINS in New York this year. He previously spent the summers of 2010 and 2011 broadcasting games with the Hudson Valley Renegades, the Tampa Rays single-A affiliate in the New York Penn League. Wilkins has also done freelance work with CBS Sports, the YES Network, Army Athletics, Lincoln University, and Long Island University.
Wilkins graduated from Penn State University in May 2010 with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. During his time in State College he was involved with Comradio, the Centre County Report, and the Big Ten Network. The Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcaster’s Association recognized Wilkins in 2010 as he earned first place for “Sports Play-by-Play”. He also volunteered with Ed Randall’s “Bat For the Cure” Foundation, raising money for Prostate Cancer research.
The inaugural basketball video broadcast will feature the USMMA women’s basketball team hosting Berkeley College (NY) November 17 inside O’Hara Hall.
