(August 20, 2013) As the end of summer draws near, STAA client Greg Talbott is preparing to return to the Pacific Northwest. Talbott has been hired as a Sports Anchor/Reporter at KNDU, the NBC affiliate in Tri Cities, WA.
“It’s a great starting market: two hours from Spokane, three hours from Portland, and about three hours from Seattle. The Tri Cities is one of the fastest growing areas in America, so it’s a cool time to be there,” Talbott says.
Ranked as one of the nation’s ten most outstanding collegiate sports broadcasters each of the last two years by STAA, Talbott’s new job gives him the opportunity to anchor sports two days a week, reporting the rest of the week. In addition, KNDU’s sister station, KHQ in Spokane, operates regional sports channel SWX. That connection also offers plenty of chances for Talbott to do play-by-play.
“This job was everything I was looking for; not only do I get to continue anchoring and reporting, but I also get to break into TV play-by-play at 22 years old, which is extremely exciting,” Talbott smiles. “It’s a job with lots of different elements, and the fact that it’s close to Spokane and my home in Portland is perfect.”
Moving through the hiring process for the perfect job at KNDU was a fast process.
“It all moved very quickly: I spoke with the News Director Tuesday afternoon and received an offer about two days later.”
Talbott spent the summer in the Frontier League as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for River City Rascals Baseball.
As a 2013 graduate of Gonzaga University, there’s one more reason Talbott can’t wait to get started at KNDU.
“Hopefully getting to read a Gonzaga highlight occasionally is something I’m already giddy about.”
