Rosenberg, Coleman, Newman covering baseball this summer

“Melanie(March 28, 2014) A trio of STAA clients will be covering baseball this summer, from the broadcast booth to the field.

Aaron Rosenberg is joining the play-by-play team of the Sioux Falls Canaries, Mike Coleman will be calling Kalamazoo Growlers games, and Melanie Newman (pictured) will be on the field as the Broadcast Reporter for the East Texas Pump Jacks. The Canaries play in the independent American Association. The Growlers and Pump Jacks are summer collegiate teams.

A graduate of the University of Miami, Rosenberg spent the Winter broadcasting games in the California Winter League. Sioux Falls is his first opportunity in professional baseball, and it includes more than just play-by-play. “I will be involved in the pre-game show and player/coach interviews and share media relations/writing responsibilities,” he says.”

Mike Coleman was in Oregon last summer as Director of Broadcasting for the Klamath Falls Gems. He was in the physical therapy industry before starting his sportscasting career in 2008. Coleman has degrees from Michigan State University and Grand Valley State University.

Melanie Newman moves to Kilgore, TX from Georgia, though she is a 2013 graduate of Troy University in Alabama. Her job as Broadcast Reporter for the Pump Jacks is a valuable step towards her goals in sports reporting. Newman will be responsible for post-game interviews and reports after all home games, regular produced segments, and developing original material. The previous two people who held the position have used it as a springboard for other broadcasting jobs.

“Melanie is the kind of candidate we hoped to find: experienced, confident, and passionate about both the industry and her career,” says Pump Jacks Co-Owner and GM Mike Lieberman. “I say ‘hoped’ because an applicant like Melanie is rare, and we’re fortunate she’ll be part of the team in East Texas.”
