Jim Leahey, an award-winning sports broadcaster in his fifth decade of calling University of Hawaii sporting events, will assume the radio play-by-play reins of UH baseball for the 2017 season.
The announcement was made by Mike Kelly, President and General Manager of Blow Up, LLC, which owns and operates radio stations KKEA (ESPN 1420) and KHKA (NBC Sports Radio on AM 1500). Blow Up, LLC is the official radio partner of University of Hawaii Athletics.
Leahey has been a respected voice of UH sports for many years. Since 1984, he has handled play-by-play duties for Rainbow Warrior football, basketball, baseball and volleyball, and Rainbow Wahine basketball and volleyball. Leahey’s first UH assignment occurred in 1973, when he called a Hawaii-Fresno State football game.
Leahey is a 17-time winner of the National Sports Media Association’s “Hawaii Sportscaster of the Year.” …
