Brendan Gulick(February 27, 2012) When looking for a “summer job” in college, you don’t have to settle for community pool lifeguard duty – just ask Brendan Gulick. An STAA client, Gulick has been hired as Play-by-Play broadcaster and Media Relations assistant for the Lorian County Ironmen.

The Ironmen are part of the summer collegiate Prospect League.

Gulick will call all 60 Ironmen games from May through August, in addition to media relations duties.

As a broadcaster with play-by-play experience in several sports, Gulick is looking forward to spending the summer indulging in his passion for baseball.

“I enjoy broadcasting football, basketball and soccer, but baseball has always had a special place in my heart.”

Gulick also recognizes the value of getting in plenty of broadcasting reps while still a college student himself.

“I think I’m most looking forward to growing as a broadcaster after calling at least 540 innings of play-by-play. I have grown to identify myself as a broadcaster and the Ironmen have given me a chance to continue to hone my craft before I graduate from John Carroll University in May, 2013.”

Even though he has yet to hit the job market as a college graduate, Gulick already appreciates the help he has received from STAA and CEO Jon Chelesnik.

“In just over a month, I have noticed significant growth in my basketball play-by-play. The monthly emails and live online chats have helped me identify specific areas that I need to improve if I want to grow as a broadcaster,” Gulick says.

“Jon has treated me like family since day one. He patiently answered all over my questions before I joined the organization. While my personal fire for broadcasting has never wavered, Jon and his service have brought my excitement and drive to a whole new level. I will be an STAA client for a long time to come and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in pursuing this career.”
