Zack Fisch(August 17, 2015) The job that Zack Fisch applied for but didn’t get has led him to another job in the ECHL. An STAA member, Fisch is the new Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the South Carolina Stingrays.

“So many fantastic broadcasters in both the AHL and NHL worked their way up the hockey ladder in the ECHL. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the [Stingrays] organization and the Charleston, SC area and I can’t wait to get started,” Fisch says excitedly.

Fisch ends up with the Stingrays after finishing runner-up for the Orlando Solar Bears opening. Solar Bears GM Jason Siegal was so impressed with Fisch that he recommended Fisch to the league office for any future openings.

“A day after he had contacted the ECHL on my behalf, I was contacted by the Stingrays about their opening and within 48 hours I had accepted a position with the team,” says Fisch.

Fisch moves to the Palmetto State after three seasons as Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL.

“My time with the Saints was exceptional and really helped me become a well-rounded employee and much more than just a broadcaster. That helped me prepare greatly to advance to the next level, and I’m excited to continue wearing many hats for the Stingrays.”

Prior to his time in Dubuque, Fisch broadcast men and women’s hockey at St. Cloud State, which earned him the distinction of being named a Top 10 College Sportscaster by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America in 2012. Fisch has also worked for the Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL, and the Rochester Honkers and St. Cloud Rox baseball teams in the Northwoods League.

Fisch first joined STAA in October 2011 while he was a student at St. Cloud State University.

“I have been a member of STAA since my junior year in college and it’s helped prepare me for every step of my career. STAA played an instrumental role in gaining my position in Dubuque in 2012, and my time with the Fighting Saints couldn’t have gone any better. The various tips and advice Jon Chelesnik has provided me over the years helped me be fully prepared for making this career move and advancing to the ECHL. From career advice, to interview tips, to exclusive job openings, Jon and STAA have been extremely helpful along the way.”
