Dewey joining Montana station

Eric Dewey(July 23, 2012) Recent college grad Eric Dewey didn’t have to wait too long to land his first post-graduate job, and he doesn’t have to go terribly far. An STAA client, Dewey is joining New Media Broadcasters in Havre, MT as a news and sports broadcaster.

Havre is less than 900 miles from Dewey’s home in Colorado Springs, CO. It’s even closer to Fort Collins, CO, where Dewey graduated this spring from Colorado State University.

“I am already close to the region, so that will make the transition to Havre easier,” Dewey says.

Dewey learned of the job through STAA. “I saw this job posted in the job forum on the STAA website, but I found out about it first thanks to the job lead emails that STAA sends out to it’s [Premier] clients.”

Dewey appreciates that it is uncommon for graduates to land a job so relatively quickly. “I feel very fortunate that I was able to land a position because I am fresh out of college and that doesn’t happen very often. I will be able to gain even more experience in radio and sports broadcasting through this position in Havre, and that is something I am very excited about.”

It is the second opportunity Dewey has landed since joining STAA two months ago. Just one week after joining STAA in May, he accepted a studio host position with his hometown Colorado Springs Sky Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

“Having an STAA Talent Page makes applying for jobs a whole lot easier,” Dewey says. “You are able to write a cover letter in an email and then simply paste the link at the bottom and the employer now has your resume and demo easily available. It’s fantastic. STAA is a great service that has helped me tremendously. First was the internship with the Sky Sox and now this position in Havre.

“I am very excited for this start and I am looking forward to it.”
