Corcoran to call Tobs baseball

Riley CorcoranThe Wilson Tobs have named Riley Corcoran as their Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting.

An STAA client since February 2011, Corcroan will be responsible for a multitude of roles within the Tobs organization including providing the play-by-play for all 31 home games during the 2013 season. Corcoran will also host “Tobs Talk,” the team’s televised pregame show before every home contest.

“We are excited for Riley to continue the tradition of high-caliber broadcasters with the Tobs,” said general manager Thomas Webb. “He has experience in all three mediums of the media, which is what made him such an attractive hire.”

Though he is just 23 years old, Corcoran brings 10 years of experience to the Tobs in radio, television and print. Most recently, he was a sports writer at The Billings Gazette. Prior to working at the Gazette, he was the Sports Director at 630 The Fan in Boise, Idaho. In Boise, Corcoran hosted a daily two-hour radio show and provided the play-by-play for over 70 games in the Treasure Valley area. In just nine months of working for 630 The Fan, he was named the state’s “Best Play-by-Play Broadcaster” from the Idaho State Broadcaster’s Association.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Tobs organization,” said Corcoran. “After talking with Thomas Webb for the first time, I knew immediately how great an opportunity this would be and what a special place it is. The Tobs are one of the premier baseball clubs in the nation and I can’t wait to move to Wilson and start the 2013 season.”

Corcoran is a 2011 graduate of Washington State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcasting with a minor in Sport Management. At Washington State, Corcoran was the Sports Director of the campus radio station, hosting his own radio show and broadcasting games for WSU athletics during all four years in college. He also hosted the school’s only sports television show as the lead anchor for two years. In 2011, he won the prestigious “Keith Jackson Award” distinguished to the school’s top sports broadcaster.

The Wilson Tobs are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, entering their 17th season in the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
