Rapid ascent: Recent college grad Connor Clark new ORU voice

Things are moving quickly for Connor Clark. In May he earned Second Team All-America Honors in STAA’s annual Jim Nantz Award program. Weeks later, he graduated from the University of Nebraska. Now, he’s the new voice of an NCAA men’s basketball program that has played in two of the past four NCAA Tournaments. An STAA member, Clark is the new basketball and baseball voice at Oral Roberts in Tulsa, OK.

“I have been attending college basketball games since I was three months old with my parents, and that is when I fell in love with the game.,” Clark stated in a press release.

Rapid ascent: Recent college grad Connor Clark new ORU voice Share on XClark follows fellow STAA member Adam Hildebrandt at ORU, Hildebrandt has been in the position since 2017. He left Tulsa to help with brand management at his alma mater, Oklahoma State University. Hildebrandt’s predecessor as voice of the Golden Eagles, Geoff Haxton, was also an STAA member.

It was early August when Hildebrandt tipped-off STAA that he was leaving ORU. STAA coordinated with the school to share the opportunity with STAA members, then distributed the opening shortly thereafter.

Clark moves to ORU from the baseball diamond. He spent the past three summers at the mic for the Lincoln Saltdogs.”I am excited to dive deeper into collegiate baseball and form relationships with the players and coaches to tell their stories. Being a part of a team is something that has always appealed to me and this is a great situation to feel that support and be around that ‘team-like’ atmosphere.”

While a student at Nebraska, Clark called several Huskers’ sports, including basketball and baseball, on campus radio station KRNU. He also did streaming broadcasts on Big Ten Plus.

Now Clark is fired up for the move to Tulsa. “I can’t wait to get started. Go Golden Eagles!”
