Caray new voice of Stony Brook athletics

Josh Caray(August 31, 2015) Josh Caray has broadcast many NCAA games over the years, but always as a fill-in. Now he has a program to call his own. An STAA member, Caray is the new voice for Stony Brook University football and basketball.

“I am excited and blessed to be called the Voice of the Seawolves,” says Caray. “The one thing that attracted me most to this opportunity is the possibilities that exist for Stony Brook athletics over the next few years. When you think of ‘rising stars’ in terms of college athletics departments, Stony Brook is one.”

Caray’s NCAA play-by-play career includes several fill-in basketball broadcasts for the University of Chattanooga and Presbyterian College. In fact, Caray was on the mic when Presbyterian upset the University of Cincinnati during the 2011-12 season — the Blue Hose’s first win over a ranked team.

In 2011 and 2012, Caray was a studio host for IMG – first on UNLV broadcasts, then for Tulane University. It was one of his IMG contacts that told Caray about the Stony Brook opportunity.

Since January, Caray has been a news anchor at KAVU-TV in Victoria, TX.

“I want to thank Athletics Director Shawn Heilbron and the Athletics Department for their confidence in me. I also look forward to working with the coaches and staff to bring the fans closer to the Seawolves through our football and basketball broadcasts.”
