Another STAA duo finds baseball homes

“Nkwa(April 21, 2014) Two more STAA clients have found baseball homes for the summer.

Nkwa Asonye (pictured) has been named Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the High Point‑Thomasville HiToms of the Coastal Plain summer collegiate league. JW Cox is joining the broadcast team of the St. Paul Saints of the independent American Association.

For Cox, it’s his first time broadcasting baseball since he called games for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in 2011. “This will give me a chance to get back into doing some baseball without having to uproot my wife and I [to relocate] somewhere else for the summer.”

The Saint Paul opportunity also allows Cox to retain his football and basketball play-by-play duties at St. Cloud State University.

Asonye is also no stranger to baseball. He broadcast games for the school team while a student at George Washington University. Most recently, he worked for the Atlantic 10 Digital Network broadcasting play-by-play for the Atlantic 10 Women’s Volleyball Championship Tournament. Asonye is also a production assistant for Major League Baseball Advanced Media.
