Ex-sportscaster Gamere sentenced to prison
(January 19, 2010) Bob Gamere, a former sportscaster and host of the popular Boston television show, "Candlepins for Cash," has been sentenced to five years in prison on child pornography charges.

U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz said the 71-year-old Gamere was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge William Young. His prison term is to be followed by a lifetime term of supervised release.

Gamere was charged in October 2008 with using his home computer to send multiple people e-mails with child pornography videos attached.

The former Brookline resident pleaded guilty in September to two counts of transmitting child pornography videos over the Internet and one count of possessing child pornography.

Gamere hosted "Candlepins for Cash" from 1973 to 1980.
