The WEEI Sports Radio Network has announced the addition of Mike Adams to “The Big Show with Glenn Ordway and Michael Holley,” effective today, April 11, 2011.
Adams is ecstatic to be joining the show. “I’ve been a loyal Big Show listener since the beginning. Michael Holley is a guy we all love, a thoughtful host with a tremendous sense of humor. Glenn, hey, he’s the Big O. There’s nobody better at what he does. This is going to fun, I can promise you that. I’m thrilled to be part of the Big Show.”
Mike Adams was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, raised in Connecticut and worked at several stations in Hartford, Springfield, and New York City during the ’70’s and ’80’s. Eventually, Adams found his way to Boston where he hosted “Mike Adams Sports World” on NECN from 1992–93 and won two Emmys. He has hosted shows for Fox 25 in Los Angeles and Classic Sports Network, now known as ESPN Classic, and, has been the host of the Planet Mikey program on WEEI since 2005, a role that he will maintain.
“We’re thrilled to be adding Mikey to our ever growing ensemble cast here on The Big Show. He is one of the most quick witted entertainers in the business who will add a whole new dimension to what we do every day,” says Glenn Ordway.
“I feel like Mikey is the alter ego that no one wants to admit that they have. He says all the things in public that we whisper about in private. Seriously, the guy is a comedic genius and I’m really excited to work with him,” says Michael Holley. “His excellent sense of humor and lurid tales from the old days often overshadows just how much knowledge he has about a little bit of everything. I can’t wait until he brings his original, unmistakable style to “The Big Show.”
Jason Wolfe, VP of Programming for WEEI says, “Mikey is perfect for this role. His wit, his humor, the overall entertainment value that he brings every day is tremendous. He’s going to add a ton to the big show, and I’m excited about getting him going.”
