The Saginaw Spirit (OHL) has an immediate opening for a Director of Broadcasting & Communications.

Job Description
Basic Function:

The Director of Broadcasting and Communications is responsible for all Public Relations activities related to the Hockey team and its programs. Particular emphasis on promoting marketing strategies for the team. The current structure of the role includes team play-by-play broadcaster.

Reports to: President / Managing Partner (Directly), Ownership
Supervises: Director of Social Media
Works with: Hockey Club and ASM Global personnel.
Classification: Full-time, salary, benefits based on experience

* Provide Play-by-Play and produce ALL (Road and Home) regular season & postseason TV & Radio broadcasts on ROGERS tv & Your tv (OHL Action Pak) and 100.5 FM.
* Provide full, need-based writing and production services for radio clients and weekly team commercials throughout the season. Provide voice overs weekly for updated TV / Radio commercials.
* Serve as liaison between Hockey Operations staff and media.
* Coordinate all media interaction with players, coaches, and staff.
* Composition of all team press releases, including game recaps following each game in a timely manner and post to social media/website
* Perform radio, television, and public speaking appearances alongside
executives, coaches, and players, on behalf of the team.
* Coordination and Execution of all team press conferences hosted at The Dow Event Center, or an off-site location.
* Corporate Sales Facilitation of deliverable elements in sponsorship contracts into the broadcast, social media and whatever else is required to ensure the client is satisfied with their elements in the broadcasts.
* Construction and distribution of Media / NHL Scout packets, as well as team historian/record keeper.
* Handle all team Marketing decisions and Media Buys (negotiation, execution).
* Maintain relationships with all Media Clients & Partners, including television broadcast partners (Snow Productions, ROGERS tv, Cogeco tv, WNEM, WEYI, WJRT, Alpha Media, and Cumulus.)
* Provide need-based graphic design work (photoshop)
* Provide need-based website upkeep. Ex: posting game previews and recaps, game highlights, etc.

Special Abilities and Skills:

* Ability to communicate well, both written and orally.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the media, advertisers, employees and general public.
* Ability to plan, organize, and implement advertising and publicity programs.
* Ability to prepare effective reports.
* Ability to work long irregular hours, holidays, multiple days in a row

Routine Responsibilities:

* Establishes personal relationships with key personnel of the media, including newspapers, magazines, television and radio
Attends internal meetings and represents the team at external meetings as * deemed necessary
* Representation of team at all appearances and special events.
* Creates news releases and feature stories about the team and special events to be sent to the news media
* Writes and produces radio ads & all billboard signage
* Coordinates production of audio-visual programs
* Coordinates photographic needs for routine, as well as special event, documentation and promotional purposes
