The Western Nebraska Pioneers of the Expedition League is seeking an in-season play by play announcer for the 2021 summer season.

This person will be full-time seasonal from approximately May 22 through August 15, 2021 (start date negotiable). The team plays at Oregon Trail Park Stadium in Gering, Nebraska and has led the EL in attendance in each of the league’s first three seasons.

The Expedition League (www.theexpeditionleague.com) begins its third season on May 25, 2021 with (as of December 1, 2020) 12 teams playing a 64-game schedule. The regular season ends August 7, 2021, followed by two rounds of best-of-three playoffs to determine a champion.

Duties include:
* Accepted play by play duties as accepted in standard radio broadcaster role
* Host 15-minute pre and 10-minute post-game shows, obtain coach and player features for those shows
* Writing and distribution of short recap following road games for distribution to Western Nebraska media list
* Sales of small ticket packages during season to generate extra income for broadcaster;
* Accompany (when needed) team members to community appearances while team is in town
* Minimal office hours as dictated by team and travel schedule
* Other duties as agreed and assigned by front office

When Western Nebraska Pioneers baseball club owner Chuck Heeman emailed to notify STAA he'd hired member Sam Weiderhaft to be his team's new broadcaster, he joked, "Mainly because Weiderhaft is fun to say. Plus he’s good."

Heeman followed the comment with a winking eye emoji.
