The Gary SouthShore RailCats of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball are hiring a Broadcast and Media Relations Assistant for the 2019 season.

Location: Gary, Indiana
Compensation: $500/month
Start Date: May 1, 2019 (Flexible for the right candidate)
End Date: End of the 2019 season (Late August/Early-September)

Job Description:

The Broadcast and Media Relations Assistant will assist the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations in all aspects of daily operation, including but not limited to:
* Color commentary with the opportunity to broadcast three innings (play-by-play innings are based on job performance and on-air talent) for all 50 home games
* Postgame on-field interviews for in-stadium and radio broadcasts
* Co-host pre* and post-game shows for all 50 home games
* Interview players, coaches and front office staff members for broadcasts, podcast, features, and team publications
* Assist in creating and producing audio/video elements (game highlights, commercials, radio imaging, etc.)
* Co-host and produce the RailCats podcast “The RailCat Rundown”
* Prepare starting lineups and stat packs for media, coaches and broadcasters
* Write the game recap and player profile pieces/feature stories for team program/website
* Assist with press releases, game notes, team media guide, roster moves and any media requests
* Clean the RailCats Press Box
* Serve as the team’s backup official scorer
* Update the RailCats official website and social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, MixCloud, YouTube, etc.)
* Available to come to the office on non-game days during normal business hours (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
* Assist with ticket orders, group sales and all other full-time front staff members and interns
* Pull tarp and general stadium operations assistance
* Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

* Possess strong character, be reliable and trustworthy
* Recent college graduate or college senior strongly preferred
* Demonstrate strong writing skills
* Baseball play-by-play experience
* Experience working in professional sports or college sports information
* Ability to handle multiple projects at once and maintain high quality of work in professional setting
* Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, audio editing software and broadcast equipment
* Experience with Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, Audition and Premiere
* Relocation to Northwest Indiana or Southeast Chicagoland (Host family is possible)
* Ultimate team player

Submissions should Include:

* Resume/Cover Letter
* Samples of baseball radio play-by-play (two un-cut half innings)
* Writing Samples (Game Recap, Feature Story, Profile Piece, Press Release, etc.)

Non-Required:

* Scoreboard segment
* Short highlight reel
* Game Notes or segment of game notes that you designed
* Samples of any web and/or graphic design
