John Sterling

I recently read where John Sterling has come up with his signature call for Giancarlo Stanton. But he is being coy about it and won't use it until the regular season. Because he is legendary, it becomes a story. But, I am curious to know everyone's opinion, not only about a signature call on homers for certain individuals, but signature calls in general every time someone hits a home run. My general opinion about signature home run calls is....why would I say the SAME thing every home run?
Every home run is different. Some are crushed, some scrape the back of the fence, some go into a net, some go just inside the foul pole, some hit the foul pole, and so forth. I'm not a prude about this...in fact I think Mike Lange's Pittsburgh Pens goal calls are hilarious. But he mixes it up and is creative. It would get old in a hurry if he said "beat him like a rented mule" every single goal.

This is a relevant consideration.

Great topic. I'm looking forward to seeing what folks say.

"He hit it to Scranton!! As if he were facing Joe Blanton!!"
"The Gianbino!!" (too obvious)
"Can you believe the Yanks got this guy for a couple rosin bags?"
"Are you kidding me?"

I'm not big on schtick but that's just me. And I agree the HR call should mirror the flight of the ball. John's had enough it is high..far..caught moments. It's a shame Yanks no longer have Cito Culver. I was prepared to copyright "He Culverized it!"

And my official guess of the real call is "It's a Bomb-carlo!"
