The Winston-Salem Dash have an opening for a Broadcast and Media Relations Assistant.

JOB REPORTS TO: Joe Weil, Broadcast & Media Relations Manager
QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION: The Dash are seeking a candidate interested in preparing themselves for a primary play-by-play broadcast and media relations position. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Broadcasting and a year of professional experience. Candidate should be a capable writer with versatility between various platforms and strong grammar skills. A background in the sports industry is preferred.

Ideal candidate will be able to meet the following requirements:

* Capable of performing as secondary play-by-play broadcaster for all 70 home and select road games; provide color commentary for five innings of each broadcast
* Broadcast all nine innings of play-by-play for select road games during the season
* Host pregame and postgame show during all home and select road games
* Assist with game recaps and press releases to send to local media and post to team’s website
* Assist with game notes, stat packs, rosters and game day paperwork to media
* Help coordinate interviews between local media and Dash’s players, coaches, and staff.
* Write game previews and feature stories for the “Dash Board Blog”
* Add to the team’s Dash of Everything Podcast and the team’s multimedia page.
* Help construct email blasts to inform fans about upcoming events; help fill needs for sponsorship and ticket sales departments
* Contribute writing content to the Dash’s nightly gameday program by writing features related to the team and monthly sponsor-related events such as our Wake Forest Baptist Health’s “Home Run for Life” program and Goodwill Industries’ “Salute to Veterans” Program
* Oversee, manage, and maintain an organized and professional press box
* Assist sponsorship department in season-long Proof-of-Performance documents (spots, sponsor-related social media posts, on-air mentions, etc.)
* Self-motivated with positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment; other duties as assigned

HOW MUCH WILL YOU MAKE?

Compensation will be paid in a monthly stipend, amount TBD.

This position will run from late February through September 14, 2019 (can adjust according to candidate).

Conor Clingen is a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan. Now he's getting the opportunity to broadcast for their Class-A affiliate.

Initially, Clingen joined STAA in 2016 mostly to receive sportscasting job leads. "However, after being a member I have found so much more value," he says.
