A college students seeking beneficial media relations and broadcast experience is sought for the 2019 Gulf Coast Showcase (Division 1 Men’s and Women’s Basketball) November 25th through December 1st in Fort Myers, FL.

The opportunity includes play-by-play (details below).

This is an UNPAID internship for college credit. Last year’s intern was a college senior whose experience helped him get hired as a Sports Information Director immediately upon graduation.

Intern MUST be present for ALL Gulf Coast Showcase games (11/25 to 12/1) and is responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.

Job Responsibilities

* Play-By-Play of at least two games (one men, one women) … Color broadcast duties for some or all of the remaining 22 games are based on experience
* Assist in the preparation and production of Gulf Coast Showcase broadcasts (24 games featuring 16 Division 1 Men’s and Women’s basketball teams over six days)
* Provide additional content for broadcasts in the form of pre-production interviews, sideline reporting / interviewing, graphics production and in-game statistician work.
* Aid BD Global in providing quality social media content throughout the tournament (Game updates, highlights, recaps, fan interaction)

Skills and Qualifications

* Must be eligible for college credit
* Working towards degree in communications (Broadcast Journalism or similar is preferred)
* Must have basic knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop and InDesign
* Must be comfortable in an interview setting with the ability to ask educated and relevant questions based on each individual circumstance
* Must demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills
* Must be able to handle a heavy workload and work well under pressure
* Must demonstrate initiative and creativity with the ability to think outside the box
