College PBP Broadcasting & Video Productions Intern, Wingate, NC

Wingate University in Wingate, N.C. is seeking a Broadcasting and Video Productions Intern for the Wingate Sports Network & Wingate University Television.

In August of 2015, Wingate became the first Division II school in the nation to sign an ESPN3 streaming agreement. Wingate produced over 70 events on ESPN3 during the past year with plans to broadcast more during the upcoming academic year. Wingate athletic events produced over the past year included football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, swimming, tennis, baseball, softball, lacrosse and track and field. The network also produces audio broadcasts for football, basketball and baseball away games, and creates programming, game previews, highlight videos and more for television and the web.

This is an outstanding opportunity to get immediate, quality experience on the ESPN platform behind the microphone, on camera and behind the scenes on a professional broadcast, along with experience in TV studio production and college athletic communications.

Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:

* ESPN3 Play-by-play for football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, lacrosse.
* Serve as analyst or sideline reporter for select games throughout the year
* Direct students and other production personnel during live ESPN3 shows
* Fill production roles as needed (producer, replay tech, graphics coordinator)
* Conduct preview, pre-game and post-game interviews with coaches and players
* Shoot and edit team, player videos, highlights and promotional spots using Adobe Premier
* Sports reporter/host for sports television show and coaches shows
* Assist Director with gameday set up of equipment

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field
* MUST have play-by-play experience
* Ross Video switcher or Newtek Tricaster experience preferred
* Familiarity with webcasting and live sports production principles
* Video editing with Adobe Premier
* Sports reporting and storytelling
* Perform well under deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously
* Ability to work weekends and nights
* Ability to work well independently and as a team
* Commitment to continue the excellence established at Wingate University

Wingate University competes in NCAA Division II and is a member of the South Atlantic Conference. Wingate has won the SAC Athletic Excellence Cup award for 13 consecutive years.

Candidate will receive a monthly stipend, free housing near campus and a full on-campus meal plan. The position will begin around August 5, 2019 and end May, 2020.
