Jacksonville University Media Intern (includes PBP) -- FILLED BY STAA MEMBER

Jacksonville University is currently accepting applicants for Athletic Media Relations Intern for the 2017-18 school year. It is a paid position and includes play-by-play opportunities.

This is 10-month position, available August 1 and set to run through May 31, 2018. Compensation is approximately $1,100 per month and includes housing in an on-campus dorm plus a meal plan while school is in session. It is a non-benefits position.

Interested applicants should have strong writing ability and experience working in a college or university sports information office.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

* Serve as the primary media contact for several of Jacksonville’s NCAA Division I sports
* Perform public address and broadcasting duties at various events
* Assist in all areas of publicizing the accomplishments of the athletic teams and department
* Assist with the game day staffing and SID coverage for various home athletic events
* Provide content for the Jacksonville athletics website (http://www.judolphins.com) and social media pages
* Assist with the organization of archival information, records, photos, statistics
* Other duties as assigned, including various research projects and game operations

Required Qualifications:

* Experience working in an intercollegiate sports information office
* Candidates should be highly motivated and energetic with an attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong writing and editorial skills
* A bachelor’s degree is required
* Time management skills with the ability to work evenings and weekend hours with some travel are a must
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with the StatCrew software program, particularly inputting capabilities
* Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and other desktop publishing programs
