Voice Entertainer & Master of Energy, Savannah Bananas

#1 Post by Jon Chelesnik » Tue May 18, 2021 10:25 am

(STAA Note: We are HUGE fans of the Bananas and their owner Jesse Cole here at STAA. They are big thinkers and always do what they say they are going to do. STAA member Biko Skalla joined the organization last year as their play-by-play broadcaster. He has had a fabulous experience and has earned his way to full-time status. While this position does not include play-by-play, it could include huge opportunities for the successful candidate. At the very least, you'll have a ton of fun and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.)

The Savannah Bananas Baseball Club is accepting applications for the Voice Entertainer and Master of Energy.

This person will be the voice and heartbeat of Banana Land, the place that many fans call an Electric Factory, in Savannah, Georgia.

The Bananas Brand is growing more than any baseball team in the country with regular national features including being featured on MSNBC, Wall Street Journal, ESPN, CNN and the team now has more TikTok followers than any MLB Team.

Notice this position description doesn't say announcer. The team is not looking for your typical announcer. But yes, they do expect announcing, and leading sold out Grayson Stadium in chants and cheers. This person will be the voice from up above for Bananas games. But the voice is just a piece of what the team is looking for.

When the Bananas started in Savannah in 2016, this position had one guideline for the shows: no dead air. Constant music, sound effects and call and responses are expected during all of the shows as the Bananas are known to make baseball fun and attack boredom out of baseball games.

The Bananas are not like your typical baseball team. They are different. They take chances. They toe the line. They test the rules. They challenge the way things are supposed to be.

The Bananas make things fun.

Having fun will also be the role of the Bananas Voice Entertainer. They are looking for someone to bring the creativity of Bill Veeck, P.T. Barnum and Walt Disney to the airwaves.

In this role you will consider the normal guidelines for baseball announcing, then do . . . the exact . . . opposite.

For example . . .

*Instead of being a neutral announcer, you will lead Donut Chants for one visiting player and between every pitch chant Do-nut like To-Ga and help encourage a strikeout so the fans win free donuts.

*You will help come up with unique ways to mock the visiting team in fun ways. In the past, we’ve had the Grim Reaper on their dugout, grown men acting as babies, and even read the lineup as fast as possible so no one can hear their names.

*You will work directly in unison with the Showcaller, Host, Bananas Pep Band, Breakdancing Coaches, Man-Nanas, Hosts and Bananas Princess to keep the show entertaining non-stop.

*You will introduce and hype up the halftime show…Yes, the Bananas are the only team in baseball with halftime shows.

*You will choreograph fireworks shows with epic mixes to create emotional connection with the fans.

*You will test new chants, and celebrations for special moments during the game. For instance, after every stolen base the entire Bananas stadium including the players and fans do the Baby Shark.

Your summer of fun with the Bananas could launch your career in a directions you can't imagine. Currently, the Bananas have a vision to play their new game, Banana Ball with professional players year-round. Earlier this year, the Bananas launched their One City World Tour in Mobile Alabama and sold out with 7,000 tickets. In 2022, The Bananas are traveling to more cities and bringing their unique show all over the country!

Other amazing opportunities outside of the Bananas have become possible as well. Two of their former break-dancing first base coaches are now professional dancers.

To Apply:

You didn't expect this would be a traditional application, did you? Instead of your demo and resume, they'd love to see three things from you:

1. A cell phone video of why you are the best person for this position. Essentially answering why we should Go Bananas with you? Most teams want a cover letter, we want to hear and see your enthusiasm.

2. A cell phone video of you doing a two-batter sequence that you would do it if you were the voice entertainer and Master of Energy. Use any game from TV or online and just mute it as you are in charge now of firing up the crowd. (Don't worry about copyrights; the Bananas be the only folks who see it).

3. A three-point bulleted list of additional ideas you think would fit into our show and how you would implement it.

Please indicate in your cover letter you learned of this opportunity through Sportscasters Talent Agency of America.

Send video and bulleted list of ideas to:
