isPermaLink="false">http://staatalent.com/?p=7303#comment-186

We had a school district some number of years ago who came up with the same idea - to charge our radio station a set fee (I think it might have been $50 per game) for broadcast rights to a game.
I simply sent the superintendent a letter advising his that while we would pay the fee, every time the district needed some air time in mornings or afternoons to tell people about snow days, late or early bus runs, cancelled events due to weather, etc. - we would be charging our net rate (which was $60 for a 30 second commercial) every time it was broadcast.
Their idea died instantly.

We had a school district some number of years ago who came up with the same idea – to charge our radio station a set fee (I think it might have been $50 per game) for broadcast rights to a game.
http://staatalent.com/?p=7303#comment-185

we went through something like this in Houston, Texas. To say all broadcasters are making money is not good. A high school football broadcast aint making what everyone thinks we are making.
I'll just say this Athletic Districts, IF you want to charge rights fees, we are going to need you to provide the proper protocol for athletic contests since you want to be "professional".
Phone Lines
Stats
Food
etc
Just like Colleges & Universities do.
I'm not laughing either.
Now if there is no media coverage on Radio/TV, Ill guarantee attention goes down. With that being said, since everyone want to charge, how about the radio stations charge the districts when they need something read on air about their "For Profit" fundraisers.
But what ALL of this really says is this. The school districts don't know anything about Media and how media is run!

we went through something like this in Houston, Texas.
