STAA Contributor John Herrick

My name is John Herrick. I am the News Director and Play-by-Play Broadcaster with Chisholm Trail Broadcasting in Enid, Oklahoma and have been since October of 2011. Before that I was an Announcer with New Media Broadcasters in Havre, Montana from April of 2011 to September of 2011. Before breaking into the industry, I graduated from DePauw University in May of 2010. I majored in Communication and minored in Sociology while being heavily involved at the campus radio station, 91.5 WGRE. I was a member of the WGRE Sports team for all 4 years there while serving on the Board of Directors for 3 years. During my junior and senior years, I was the Sports Director. As the Sports Director, I performed daily sportscasts, newscasts, play-by-play, wrote stories, and hosted talk shows. I was first made aware of STAA by my Faculty Advisor at DePauw, Jeff McCall, in the fall of 2008. Since then, I have used STAA for my own advantage hundreds of times by keeping up on jobs that open and close, seeking advice and wisdom from Jon Chelesnik, and listening to what other knowledgeable broadcasters have to say about the industry in the message boards and forums. Had it not been for STAA, I would not be anywhere near where I am today.
